Learning about Tourism outside of the lecture hall

Tourism is part of the service industry. People working in the tourism sector need to know the motivation and behaviour of their customers as well as the products on offer – not only in theory but if possible also as a personal experience.

Following is a list of things to do - and some reading tips – for your time as a ITM bachelor student. These are of course not compulsory but you should check which experiences you are still missing. Try to include as many as possible once or several times into your life during the next three years.

Enjoy!

PS.: Keep this list and tick off what you did each year.

PPS.: Most of these activities obviously cost money. This list might help you to find “sponsorship” for some activities from relatives etc. If you still cannot afford for instance to stay overnight in a 5-Star hotel or to go on a cruise, go at least for a visit when the opportunity arises.
