Introduction Participants

Three examples of modern tourism analysis and management approaches will be looked into:

- Experience Economy in tourism (Pine/Gilmore)

- Retail as part of tourism (McCann/Locum/Arlt)

- Customer as employee in tourism (Johnston/Voss/Arlt)

Each methodical approach will be introduced in a lecture by an example and the transformation to tourism.

Students are asked to use the concepts and thinking tools of the approach for a tourism topic of their choice and give a 20 min. presentation (plus discussion) about the result.

Furthermore each student has to use one of the methodical approaches for a more detailed treatment of a touristical topic and write a paper about it of between 3,000 and 4,000 words which has to be handed in before Feb. 13th.
